Hypnosis

Hypnosis is a technique used to create a trance, an altered state of consciousness.  The word hypnosis means a sleep-like state.  But unlike sleep, a person in trance is always aware and in control of everything that's going on.  It feels a lot like being deeply absorbed in a movie or a day dream.  At such times you're so completely "entranced" that you lose track of time and an hour feels like just a few minutes.

Hypnosis works because in trance your unconscious mind is more accessible and open to suggestions that can have a healing influence on your body and your conscious mind.  It's a safe, gentle treatment that, depending on your problems, can work reasonably quickly to help with both psychological and physical issues.  Both the American Medical Associate and the American Dental Association endorse hypnosis as an adjunct to medical and dental care, and have recommended that it be taught in medical and dental schools.

Hypnosis is possible for almost anyone.  A hypnosis session begins with a discussion about what changes you'd like to make in your life.  After an induction into trance, you and your hypnotherapist together consider new ways of dealing with whatever troubles you.  While you're in trance your hypnotherapist makes specific suggestions to your unconscious mind (which are in alignment with your deepest and most positive self beliefs) designed to effect change and healing in your everyday conscious world.  You can "come out" of trance at any time - you are in control! You cannot be made to say or do anything that you do not want to say or do.  A session generally lasts about an hour and you will "wake up" feeling refreshed and renewed with a greater sense of health and well-being!
